      Title 1 is a federally funded program that serves students at Palatine High School, Hoffman Estates High School and District 211 North Campus who are in need of improving essential skill sets in reading and mathematics. District 211 operates Title 1 in partnership with the parents of these students and on Thursday, December 1, together they will host a Community Resource Fair where parents will have the opportunity to learn about numerous community resources. The goal of this event is to empower parents so that they can better help their children reach their physical and educational objectives.

      Like the Summit of Hope, Summit of Health will bring together between 500 to 1,000 parolees and probationers, volunteers and vendors to create a "one-stop" environment for parolees and probationers to obtain necessary assistance to move past barriers, which may prevent them from leading a more productive life. The Summit of Health will be virtually the same, but strictly health-related services will be provided to the returning citizens. In addition to free health screenings from the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, services will include health resources and education from community and social agencies, as well as insurance enrollment information from health plans.

      The Consulate General of Mexico’s 2016 Latin American Health Weeks will be from October 1-16, 2016. The Consulate General of Mexico’s 2016 Latin American Health Weeks is composed of a series of health fairs, informational workshops, screenings, and other activities organized by the Consulate of Mexico. The opening event will consist of a Community Health and Resource Fair at Benito Juarez Community Academy. The fair will offer free health services, which include health screenings for: glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, hemoglobin, prostate, HIV/Aids, dental cleanings and flu vaccines. Also, presentations on various health related topics will be included.

The Eighth Annual First Ladies Health fair will be held in churches throughout the Chicagoland area. The initiative has over 100 participating churches representing various denominations. Health screenings, speakers, and workshops will be offered during the event.  The event will highlight the importance of the medical and faith-based communities in educating and supporting the health of the community surround the churches.  A wide range of topics including cardiovascular health, diabetes, Alzheimer's, HIV and Hepatitis C will be discussed. The First Ladies Health Initiative is now in five locations, Chicago, NW Indiana, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and South California with plans to expand to Atlanta.

      Bud Billiken is the second largest parade in the United States.  CCHHS physicians and nurses provide first aid support along the parade route.  We have a separate tent in the park to promote CCHHS & County Care. More than 10,000 are in attendance at this day long event.

      Catholic Charities runs exam-based Health Fairs in the most medically underserved communities in the Chicago area.  They team up with nurses, physicians, dentists, podiatrists, and ophthalmologists, who donate their time every year to make the highest quality health fairs possible. Also, Catholic Charities partners with various clinics, parishes and agencies in the communities served. Services provided include medical screenings for blood pressure, glucose & cholesterol; school physicals and dental exams; children’s immunizations; adult dental, podiatric and vision screenings; and HIV rapid testing. Referrals for community medical and social services are also provided.

      The Berwyn Township and Public Health District have been providing services to the community of Berwyn for over 90 years. Together they will be hosting a health and fitness fair at Lesak Park. Residents of all age groups, from young families through senior citizens, will be attending and taking advantage of the free community resources and information. During the fair, free health screenings will be provided to Berwyn residents inside the Public Health District clinic. Participating organizations will have the opportunity to distribute resources and promotional items regarding their respective services to residents attending the fair.
